A doctor who can turn brown eyes blue last season north face jackets has denied that his revolutionary technique is ethnically insensitive.
Dr Gregg Homer, from Stroma Medical in California unveiled his Lumineyes technology which can permanently change a person's eye colour in just 20 seconds last month.
But as the £3,200 cosmetic procedure doesn't work in reverse - meaning you cannot turn a blue eye brown - many are questioning if it is discriminatory. Dr Gregg Homer (left) has denied that his procedure to turn brown eyes blue is ethnically insensitive. Right - An eye towards the end of treatment
When questioned on the issue he told The Times: 'Well, number one, I'm Jewish. So that would be a pretty heavy blow to take.
'I mean is bleached hair an ethnic issue?'
Blue eyes, which are a recessive trait, are becoming increasingly rare and as a consequence there has been a growing trend for coloured contact lenses.

Despite the 57-year-old denying that the procedure will attract those wanting to emulate blue-eyed stars such as Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Taylor and Daniel Craig he can see the attraction.
He added: 'Blue eyes are deep, whereas brown eyes are opaque.
'You hear of people with brown eyes who grew up with parents of relatives always saying to theior blue-eyes brothers or sisters, 'Oh your eyes are so wonderful!'.
'I think they are beautiful.'
The Lumineye technology works by removing some of the brown pigment from the front of the iris, leaving it blue. In this picture the process has been performed on the bottom half of the eye
The laser energy removes the brown pigment, or melanin, from the top layer of the iris, and the blue eye colour emerges over the following two to three weeks.
It would provide an alternative to those who wanted lighter eyes without resorting to cosmetic contact lenses.
However the procedure - which Dr Homer has developed over 10 years - is irreversible because the brown tissue cannot regenerate.
Stroma Medical has started limited human testing but is seeking up to £500,000 to complete clinical trials.
If all goes to plan Dr Homer says the procedure could be available outside the U.S within 18 months and inside the U.S in three years, and thousands of prospective clients have already cheap north face jackets online expressed interest.
CEO of Stroma Medical, Doug Daniels, admitted he wasn't sure about the concept when Dr Homer first told him about it.
'I was very sceptical frankly, but I learned a long time ago that all the great ideas start out as blasphemy,' he said.
A blue eye pigment doesn't actually exist in nature. Instead, people with blue eyes have a brown pigment, known as melamin, at the back of their irises but have low concentrations of melanin in the front of their irises.
This means longer wavelengths of light are absorbed by the dark back of the eye, while the shorter wavelengths are scattered.
Study leader Professor Eiberg said before this time, everyone had brown eyes.
The mutation of brown eyes to blue north face jackets for cheap represents neither a positive nor a negative mutation. It is one of several mutations such as hair colour, baldness, freckles and beauty spots, which neither increases nor reduces a human’Professor Eiberg said at the time: 'It simply shows that nature is constantly shuffling the human genome, creating a genetic cocktail of human chromosomes and trying out different changes as it does so.'

The north face Apex Elevation Jacket
She has the perfect north face coats body, a successful career and a doting husband so is it any surprise that she is skis like a pro too?
Elle Macpherson,47, carved up the slopes during a skiing session in Aspen and put other skiers to shame.Wearing a pair of chic white salopettes and a blue white and red ski jacket Elle overtook in the style stakes too. With
her womens north face jackets flowing on-trend hair and aviator sunglasses she looked every inch the supermodel, as she made a quick phone call before hitting the slopes. And the serious skier swapped her sunnies for goggles and wore a helmet
for her high-speed run. The Australian took the white powder in her stride cutting a fine figure as she sailed down the slope. But not everyone found the Aspen snow quite so easy to negotiate and actress Zoe Saldana could
learn a thing or two from Elle. The Avatar actress might be playing a hard-hearted assassin in her next film but she failed to tackle the nursery slopes at Snow Summit Resort in Aspen yesterday.
The 32-year-old star is on holiday in the Colorado resort with her fiance Keith Britton and decided to indulge in a spot of skiing. Keith, who is an actor and CEO of My Fashion North Face Men's Apex Elevation Jacket Database, proved to be the perfect
gentleman carrying the skiing equipment while the starlet took charge of the helmets and gloves.
The long term couple who announced their engagement in June this year after 10 years together, made their way up the slope on a ski-lift smiling and ready to hit the piste.
But while Zoe may have looked the part dressed in a black salopettes, a black bomber jacket, monochrome striped jumper and a pair of huge sunglasses she failed to tackle the tricky sport. The actress stuck to a basic
technique, the snow-plough, which involves beginners pointing their skis inwards to prevent picking up speed.
The actress failed to stay upright on her K2 Soloman skis but Keith was there to lend a helping hand as he pulled her up from the snow.
The couple are enjoying the Christmas break as Zoe has just finished filming Colombiana where she stars as a stone-cold assassin. It is set to hit the big screen next summer.
But Zoe has lots of upcoming work preparing to return to Pandora in the second and third part of James Cameron’s ground-breaking Avatar films, which are currently being written. For now she can enjoy the break with
her fiancé with the popular Christmas destination which sees a whole host of celebrities descend upon it over the festive period. Goldie Hawn has been enjoying the winter wonderland using the opportunity to showcase a
wide selection of warm outfits. The star has been spotted sporting a number of furry coats around town but the 65-year-old actress braved the chilly temperatures by stripping off to a white vest.
But although the ‘spiritual gansta’ t-shirt left her arms bare her grey furry hat remained covering her head. Other celebrities visiting the snowy slopes of Aspen these season include Kate Hudson, The Hills, Doug Reinhardt
and 90210’s Lori Loughlin.
